Yeah, don't just try to use one that you bought to use inside your house, if there's high humidity where you live, you're just asking for problems.

Just buy an outdoor or porch fan. It's designed to work in damp places. Then follow the directions very carefully.

I think you should hire someone to do it for you, specially if the fan is too heavy... Generally they are not, but I would consider hiring someone just because it is electrical and it is outside.

Our deck has a light. I am considering taking out the light in the ceiling and adding in a ceiling fan. Do you have to do anything differently since it's not in the house?
