I aree, swapping out all the parts is a good long-term fix. Who wants to have to keep popping off the toilet lid in order to flush?

My guess is the problem is not the chain, but the plastic part that the chain attachs to. You probably want to replace the whole mechanism and be done with it.

Try attaching it with a rubber band where they suppose to be. I had to change mine, but I got a plastic thing that had holes in where to adjust the length of the plastic chain, and it's been working fine. Anyway, a rubber band could help, or even one of those wires that come with the toys or cables to keep them in place... they are covered in plastic and would stay in place too.

OK I have installed 2 different chain thingies in my toliet tank so it will flush. Both ended up coming loose after a few months and then I have to take off the tank cover and pull the chain again. Any tips for fixing this good once and for all? I am a single mom and have to do all repairs myself.

Thanks
