Does the black mesh fabric to prevent weeds work?

If you weedwack around the edges once a week, you should be able to make it last 2 years, easy. After that, you'll probably have to deal with putting it down again.

That's been my experience too. Though if you are lucky, there won't be any weeds left underneath to grow up through the mesh. That can buy you a bit more time if you keep the grass back away from the edges.

Yes, it works, but in my experience only for 1-1/2 years. Then you have to put more in.

We are relandscaping several flower beds. Is it worth putting down the black mesh fabric to block out weeds? Do they work? For how long?
