You will also want to make sure that you cut out all the fruit and seeds from your palm tree, that makes them less desirable for rats.

Rats are bad news, especially if they get into your house. You will want to cut the tree back away from your roof. You will also want to put out poison stat.

You may also want to put out rat bait. You really don't want them to get into your house. Then you'll have a world of troubles.

Get a palm frond cutter and use it to trim back all the fronds that are close to the top of your house. That will help keep the rats from jumping from your tree to your roof.

I have a palm tree that sits up next to my house. Recently, the fronds just reached the point where they lead down from the tree to the house. My neighbor said this is no good, because rats often live in the tree. Any ideas on prevention, other than cutting down the tree?
