I've seen the germination blankets roadside here. The grass does kick in pretty quick, but then you're stuck having to mow up and down a hill. Ugh!!!!

You could always go with grass! To keep the seeds from washing away, opt for a seed germination blanket (biodegradable wood fiber that holds seed and fertilizer in place) or if you have a bit more money to work with hire someone to do hydroseeding.

pachysandras (is that how you spell that word??) are supposed to be good for tough areas like steep slopes. they grow like weeds so you probably wouldn't even need to start with too much. we have them in spots in our front and backyards. we just pull them up and plant them somewhere else when we need to. otherwise i think you would have to get into building retaining walls and all sorts of more expensive stuff. let me know what you decide, i'm curious. our landscaping needs lots of work so i need new ideas too. i'm going to post my own question now. hope someone answers me!

What's a good choice for steep slop plantings? I don't want to spend too much time or money on this project, but i want it to at least look decent.
