The biggest cons for tile are that as you get older, the tile tends to be a little hard on your feet, you can't lie down on tile to watch tv and stepping down onto tile on a cold winter morning with bare feet is a nasty shock if you're used to carpet.

I'd say the decision has to come depending on where you live. In NY I have carpet all over except the bathroom, where I have tile. But my mom lives in a very hot city, an she has tiles all over the place, and it keeps the place cooler. She has area carpet for the bedrooms, but the floor is tile.

My mother has picked her tile, her contractor and gotten estimates. What's holding up the works? She can't decide whether to tile the bedrooms or to keep them carpeted. Any pros and cons out there on both scenarios?
