pvc or steel under sink?

I agree, if you have the choice, go with steel. It's harder to work with but lasts oh so much longer.

I had PVC in my last apartment and it was a nightmare. The piping cracked and then it got bumped and started to leak again. Everything under my sink ended up getting soaked at least once a year.

I have PVC in the bathroom and in the kitchen I have steel. It is a small apartment and I live by myself so I know not to be bumping and doing anything strange under the bathroom sink! So far, it worked just fine!

I'd go with steel. You don't have to worry about the kids (or husband) smacking things into it and triggering Niagra Falls.

either works. with pvc plastic, you need to be a little careful about bumping things into the pipe, since the valves can loosen more easily than those on steel pipes. so don't overcrowd your under sink area if you use pvc u pipe. i'd go with whatever you are more comfortable working with.
