I didn't know that anyone still used water softeners. In my opinion, they use way too much sodium to be healthy and I don't even particularly like the way the softened water feels.

Yep. The added salt is a big concern especially for older people. We had to take it out of my mom and dad's house.

A lot of the systems use a ton of sodium to soften the water...Make sure you don't have any health concerns.

Just make sure that the person or company you hire, has a license to do so and offers some kind of warranty. Also, check out other people if you can, that have done the same. I always try to find a recomended person.

we went with our well/water filtration service provider, but i don't think it makes a difference as long as anyone doing the work is licenced and insured to be doing it.

should i hire a plumber or a water/well service provider to install one? i've gotten ok estimates from both so far, so it's more about qualifcations and quality than price.
