Would you put a wood floor in your bathroom? Enough said. Keep the wood out of the kitchen unless you don't plan to cook or use the water there.

To make it really easy to clean up go with tile with a very thin grout. It costs a little more, but is much easier to maintain.

I am with Harley on this one. I love wood, but I prefer tiles in the kitchen. They are very easy to clean, and there is a huge variety of them so you can decorate according to what you want. Wood would be a problem with water.

i went with porcelain tiles for my kitchen. they're supposed to be very strong and easy to care for. wood is attractive, but i'd be concerned about possible water damage if you ever have a leak in your kitchen.

does anyone have thoughts on hard wood floors vs. tile in the kitchen? i want something nice looking but sensible. wood seems popular lately, but i'm wondering if it is good for the long term. thanks.
