The 1-2-3 SWIM Back Float

The 1-2-3 SWIM Back Float is an inflatable teaching aid, ideal for children ages 2 to 8 years old. When fully inflated, the back float will comfortably and safely support a child weighing up to 75 pounds.

The 1-2-3 SWIM Back Float should always be inflated with the help of a bicycle pump. An inflating needle is supplied. Do not over-inflate. The bladder should be firm but not hard. The elastic belt has a safety buckle and an adjustable slide to give a snug fit around the body.

The Back Float is the most comfortable teaching aid available for use with children, allowing complete freedom and control of body, arms and legs.

  • Place the 1-2-3 SWIM Back Float above the child’s waist on the back and fasten the safety buckle in the front, over the lower portion of the chest.
  • Your child should remain upright in the water with his or her head out of the water at all times.
  • Hold your child’s hands and have them move their legs as if they are running or pedaling a bicycle.
  • Move your child’s hands in a circular motion in front of the body using the dog paddle pull.
  • The Back Float is the best swim aid for use in teaching stroke technique of the four competitive swim strokes. It is worn on the back when learning the free style, the breast stroke, the butterfly stroke, and it can be moved to the front when teaching your child the back stroke
  • The Back Float can be gradually deflated as your child progresses and can swim without the Back Float
  • Parents should insist that the child continue to wear the back float. On hot summer days, children will spend hours in the pool. Fatigue and exhaustion could push your child toward danger. Continued use of the back float will keep your child swimming without tiring.
