MIU France digital probe thermometer, item # 93081. This electronic thermometer is great for tracking the internal temperature of meat and poultry during the cooking process. The thermometer has 15 preset options for different types of meat and poultry. The "meat" button allows you to select the type of meat, and the "Taste" button allows you to track the doneness. An on/off button extends the life of the battery. A small switch on the back of the thermometer changes the reading from Celsius to Fahrenheit and vise versa. Two small magnets on the back of the thermometer keeps the thermometer securely on the stovetop. The display flips up for easy reading. The thermometer is powered by 1-AAA battery, which is included. The metal probe is connected to a wire mesh cord which can remain in the oven while cooking. The mesh cord is just over 3.5-feet long and is flexible enough to bend around the oven door. This makes it possible to keep the door shut and the oven temperature steady during the baking or roasting process. The cord is not indestructible or flame-proof and should be treated with care especially if using it on the BBQ grill. The probe may have to be replaced from time to time. Additional probes are available. The LCD display is not oven safe; it should be placed on the countertop while cooking. To clean the display and probe, wipe with a damp cloth. Do not put in the dishwasher.
