GE SmartWater Replacement Filter (GXILQR)

The GE SmartWater Refrigerator Filter Replacement (GXILQR) is the replacement filter for the GXILQ filter kit. The GXILQ has been discontinued, but GE recently came out with this replacement filter for it. It improves the taste and odor of your water by removing chlorine, sediment and rust as well as 99.95% of Cysts, and 99% of Lead. It does not remove flouride. GE recommends that you replace the filter every 6 months OR if the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks (for instance, during a move) OR if you notice a decrease in the flow of water, hollow ice cubes, or objectionable tastes in the water or ice.
