"Garage door opener is very quiet. The outdoor keypad is quite handy. It lights up when you come into the garage, too. Very useful."

"Remotes don't work" Date: 7/14/2007
"Very quite operation. The loudest part now is the door itself. We installed it below a room in our house. It is MUCH quieter than the previous "screw" driven opener we had, however, the vibrations are still loud enough to wake sleeping guests. Installation was very easy. In part due to the fact that I had installed our previous opener and the steps were essentially the same. Instruction book was clear. The only complaint I have is that the remotes that came with it don't work consistently!!! I've reprogrammed the remotes according to the instruction book, and I've been reading chamberlain's support web site to try to figure out why they don't work, and the only thing I can think of is our wireless internet router is causing interference with the remotes. It is very annoying!! Sometimes the remotes work fine from our street, and other times we have to drive right up next to our door and press the button 10-20 times before it opens. The hassle I'm experiencing with the remotes is the reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5. I think that the remotes should be compatible with standard home appliances, or at least have a selection of frequencies/channels to try. I'm anxious to see how chamberlain customer support is. "

"Works like a charm!" Date: 7/13/2007
"All the positive reviews of this item are accurate, so I won't reiterate them here. While the unit is easy and fun to put together, here are a couple of tips to make it go even more smoothly. The last direction for assembly (not installation...more on that later) is REALLY DUMB. To have the belt spring into its ready-to-use tension, you are supposed to hold a grooved nut in place using a flat-headed screw driver, all the while twisting another nut with a pair of pliers or wrench until the latter nut snaps over the former nut. HA HA HA HA HA! Sure. When you get to this and try it, you'll see what I mean. We finally just tried any means we could think of to get that nut over, so you'll need to do the same. Installation was a breeze, but we couldn't figure out why the sensors on either side of the door wouldn't calibrate. After checking the wiring three times, we finally decided to detach one sensor and bring it RIGHT up to the other one. Great idea, because they connected immediately like two love-birds. I reattached the sensor where it belonged and they've been making "eye-contact" ever since. The remote entry is REALLY cool. It's easy to program and just as easy to input a temporary code if you have hired help needing entry or something. All in all, I wouldn't describe the noise produced by the unit as "whisper-quiet," but it's certainly more quiet than the chain-drive unit I pulled out of there!"

"Excellent" Date: 7/4/2007
"After reviewing the brands and models we chose this belt drive. It took my son and I about 3 hours to replace a chain drive with this unit and we're pretty mechanical. It's really no big deal to do it yourself. Add an extra hour if you have to install it with mounting hardware. It is extremely quiet. The exterior opener is a great feature. Programming the buttons in an MDX and Pilot is very easy. One pro or con is that the light turns on if someone walks into the garage. That's great if your kid is out at night and comes home. It's not so great if you have dogs that go in and out. That's a very minor issue, though. I'd highly recommend this unit, for $214, and it arrived within 3 days."
