"Not Bad For It's Price" Date: 5/27/2007
"At the time I purchased this saw, I paid the modest amount of $99 which included shipping. That low price is what sold me on this band saw as I only needed a band saw for a few light weight projects. For light weight projects, this is a good saw for it's price. However, despite having a 15 watt work light and a laser cutting guide, this saw has a flaw or two that one should be aware of before purchasing this tool. First, it has a nasty vibration problem that can interfere with the work one is trying to do. And secondly, the table is somewhat badly constructed in that the screws that hold the table down are poorly counter-sunk so that when one is cutting wood or some other material, it can jam up against one of the screw heads rather than slide over them. This is not a major problem but it is a major annoyance. Lastly, while the band saw is advertised as a 9" saw, don't be fooled by that! I tried to resaw a 4 x 4 piece of wood, but it was far too big to fit under the saw's blade guard. Two, maybe three inches is the maximum sized piece that can be cut with this saw. So it's okay for 2 x 4s a well as thin sheets of wood or metal, but not ffit for big jobs at all. It's for those three reasons that I give this saw only four stars. I don't think you can buy a better saw for the price, but you could pay more and probably buy a better saw with less vibration and a better designed table; it all depends upon how much you want to spend. If you are a novice craftsman or don't have many projects in hand, then this is a pretty good band saw. But if you have large jobs to do, invest a little more and buy a bigger saw. Ron"
