| "Well thought-out saw" |
Date: 8/29/2007 |
"Bosch did their homework before they put this saw together.
The gravity rise stand is a work of art. Until you use it, you don't realize how easy it can be. Almost effortless.
The fence: dead-on right out of the box. Considering the whole saw w/ stand costs less than a Biesemeyer, I'd say it's one heckuva deal.
The saw: powerful for such a small package. I've used it to cut a 3/4" dado 1/2" deep w/ an 8" dado blade without it missing a beat. Just make sure that if you're using an extension cord that it's either a 10 or 12 gauge, this goes with any power-tool sucking upwards of 15 amps.
The blade: the only downside of the whole package. Just throw it out and get yourself a nice Freud or Forrest.
I've looked at the Hitachi, Jet, Dewalt, and Makita portables, the Bosch is far and away the front-runner. Either this or the new 4001 by Bosch are excellent choices."
