"This is an electric cooler - NOT a refrigerator"
Date:
9/8/2007
"I bought this as a refrigerator (and it was advertised as such) to keep water and juice cold upstairs in the bedroom for use after exercising. (Yeah I know, after exercise I'm too lazy to go back downstairs to the real frig). This really is an electric cooler and as it states in the manual will cool items to 25° below room temperature. That means if you have it in a 80° room, the internal temperature will be 55°. Don't store meat or dairy in this unit! In my air conditioned bedroom, juice and water are kept at 40°, which is OK. It also runs continuously without cycling off. At least that is what I am observing based on the noise. I had originally set it next to the bed, but it made too much noise (whirring/whining) and I had to move it across the room. Now I think my wife wants to move it into another room. I bought this unit on sale for $49 and it is doing the job for which I bought it, but if I had to do it over, I would buy a real refrigerator."

"Cheap - Light - Low Power - Works!"
Date:
8/29/2007
"With respect to the previous review, I must have gotten the real good one. I love this little fridge. It weighs next to nothing, and makes almost no sound. Mine maintains a very cold temperature. Colder than my big fridge in my kitchen (and it is a big top-of-the-line Jenn-Aire). I only paid $50 for it and it is perfect in my office. Many offices will not let their employees have fridges in their cubes as they draw too much power. This draws less than the light fixture above my cube. Less than my LCD monitor! And is silent. It also cools items down twice as fast as my home fridge. I can place room temp soda in it and it is cold in an hour or two. It uses a beefed up version of the "cooler" technology. I have several of the coolers and as the previous review states, they do not work. At best it will maintain already cold items longer than an ice chest. I just went and got a 5-day ice chest instead. I am extremely pleased with this product. I hope they continue to explore this technology as it consumes way less energy and does not use any potentially harmfull gasses or liquids."

"Get a real refrigerator"
Date:
8/22/2007
"I've had this refrigerator/cooler (although when I bought it it was advertised as a refrigerator) for about a year. It's more of a cooler only...leave out refrigerator. It doesn't keep things cold at all just cool (believe me there's a big difference). I wouldn't recommend putting any perishable food in it...doesn't keep it cold enough. I just use it for water only...it won't even keep your beer cold enough. It is quiet and requires no care and it's inexpensive to run, but, spend the extra $10.00 bucks and buy a true refrigerator.."
