"I purchased this water heater 3 years ago and I have replaced it (under warranty) 3 times. The first time due to leaking cylinders, the second time due to fluctuating water temperature, the third time due to leaking cylinders again. Now, it doesn't heat the water. Tech support sent me some procedures on taking the water heater apart and servicing it. I tried but it still doesn't work. It's under warranty, and tech support offered to send me some parts to change out, but this thing is terribly unreliable. So, I'm going to the home center tomorrow and buying a conventional water heater. I won't have the coolest water heater on the block, but at least it will be reliable. Save your money and don't buy this water heater. Instead, wait until this technology has improved, then look at buying one."

"My reason for ordering this was all about saving space. Now I have a nice-looking 12" x 12" white box hanging on the wall in my laundry room and have hot water in an instant. This unit also qualifed me for a $300 tax credit as it is very energy efficient. I recommend this to anyone who wants to save space and/or money!"

"We've been using the PowerStar AE125 Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater for a couple of months now. It takes up almost no space, turns on only when you need it, and provides instant hot water. (If the hot water has to travel a distance through pipes to get to where you're using it, it will take a minute for the hot water to get to you, just like with the old fashioned tank type.) You should think a bit about where you want to install it, since you don't have to designate a room for it -- it's so small! Seriously, it's about the size of my mom's old dictionary. So far, the thing has worked just as I'd hoped. I docked one star from this rating because once, just after it was installed, the unit failed to turn on when I turned on the water. We flipped the breaker off and then on once, and it came back to life. That was a couple of months ago, and it has not happened again. I was rewiring at the time I bought this item, and my electrician said it required a circuit or two more than I was expecting -- that's something to be aware of. I feel good knowing we're conserving energy -- we only heat water when we need it. We don't keep it heating all day the old fashioned way. Buying this item through Amazon was a great deal, and it was way easier than making a special order at Lowes. So far, I'm a very happy customer, and I'm glad this item is working out so well."
