"DO NOT BUY THIS!"
Date:
8/7/2007
"I have had this machine for about a year, and I use it fairly often. The poor bowl design that gets BOTH bowls dirty when you use either of the smaller insert bowls has been an annoyance, but was (sort of) balanced out by the power and control, which are good. However - last night the top blew off and the large bowl locking mechanism broke when I was grating cheese. Other reviewers have had the exact same problem. I wish I had seen those reviews before I spent all that money. Kitchenaid needs to redesign the bowl system completely, and I would strongly recommend not buying this unit until they do."

"Absolutely Superb -- The Best of the Best!"
Date:

"The KitchenAid ProLine Food Processor lives up to its wonderful KitchenAid reputation -- perfect in every way. This remarkable appliance comes with the KitchenAid two-year "no questions asked" return guarantee, as they are well aware that even during the first two years of service this appliance will hold up beautifully. This Food Processor is a dream come true -- saving my hands from the stress of mixing bread and stiff cookie doughs, and performing all services reliably and well. I have been overjoyed with its performace and the large bowl size -- no other food processor even comes close to this one in design and performance. The only limitation is the color -- ugh it is gray -- but the absence of decorator color is an acceptable trade for it stellar, reliable performance -- well worth every dollar and more! Amateur and professional cooks alike will enjoy its versatility, its ease of use and cleaning, and its overall powerful motor and reliable performance -- just another KitchenAid winner, of course!"

"Very disappointing product with serious design flaw. Don't waste your $"
Date:

"This food processor seemed perfect - large enough and powerful enough to do almost anything! However, it was brought to its knees by grating cheese. I tried to grate mozzerella for pizza and the top flew off, spraying cheese everywhere. I called Kitchaid and they suggested I had a faulty item, and offered to exchanged it. The same thing happened with the next one.. and the next one... To Kitchaid's credit, they handled the exchanges very well. Finally, Kitchaid replaced my food processor with another model - a 12 cup smaller version, which has been fabulous, and grates mozzeralla just fine. I called recently to find out if they have addressed this design flaw as I really liked the idea of such a large powerful machine, but was told the design was not changed. I feel it is irresponsible of Kitchenaid to keep selling a product with an obvious problem. Don't waste your money on this one."

"What A Mess!"
Date:
7/24/2006
"This appliance is a design nightmare. There are insert bowls which are supposed to give increased versatility for small projects. However the main bowl is notcompletly covered by the inserts and if you are grating cheese the grated cheese gets into both bowls and around the rims. The edges of the bowls, the tops and the grater disks have rims and crannies that get coated in whatever you are working with and have to be cleaned with a toothpick or knife tip. Today I was grating motzarella and the top sprang off while grating, spraying the entire coutertop with grated cheese. I thought perhaps it had not locked completly and tried again, again it popped off at the back and the motor kept turning spraying cheese and presenting a saftey hazard. I have had Cuisinarts for 30 years and when the last one started looking a bit grubby I decided to try Kitchen Aid because of its good rating. Boy do I feel ripped off.The Cuisinart cleanup was 5 minutes, even when this food processor works properly there is a 20 minute cleanup. In short Beware."
