"good tool bad battery"
Date:
6/15/2007
"The tool itself is quite powerless although I am not sure it is due to the weak battery. When I used it to cut acopper pipe or one (I really mean one) 2x4 is ok. The worst is the Ni-Cad battery. On a full charge, its runs about 5 minutes and then the battery runs down and heats up to the point that it needs to cool down for 10-20 minutes before it can be recharged. As such, the tool is useless. More then once, I gave up and finish the job with a hand saw. They offer a Lithium ion battery/charger upgrade for $200! So, the message from Milwaukee I get is thus, spend over $200 for the hatchet kit and if you really want it to work, double the money. This is a upsetting."

"Excellent run time!!!!!"
Date:
10/6/2006
"Bought my hatchet a few years ago on cleanance at Sears. I use it to prune and clear branches and small bushes away from my grass dumping area. Orbital setting really helps speed things up cutting wood. This feature(orbital) is nice considering the short (3/4")stroke the hatchet has. Run time is most impressive!!!!!Had a battery go bad after about 2 years which Milwaukee replaced for free even though it was out of warranty. Two thums up Milwaukee!!!!!"

"Not quite up to par"
Date:
2/28/2006
"Like his corded brother this saw is top notch as far as the mechanical aspects go. There is a definate problem though with the batteries. They do not stay charged for very long, and unfortunately for me I purchaced before I read the reviews of other customers explaining that the batteries are only good for about a year. Hopefully Milwaukee will design a better system soon."
