"I bought this as an upgrade after using a Craftsman orbit sander the past number of years. It performed well for me, but the dust bag would no longer stay put without duct tape. I actually bought this one with very little consideration, because Fine Woodworking had a review of orbit sanders recently and ranked this one best. It IS a nice machine. It runs very smoothly. It's plenty aggressive. It doesn't bog down at all (although you shouldn't press down on an orbit sander so as not to distort its random pattern). The dust bag has a filtration system, but plenty of dust still escapes it. That's fine by me as I'm often working outdoors. I mainly just want a dust bag in place to keep the dust from blowing into my eyes. Plan on wearing your respirator, I'd say. All in all, a very solid machine that'll last me many years of professional use after mowing through a few Ryobi's and that Craftsman. Plus, it comes with a rugged little case. Another Bosch gem."

"Within 10 seconds of the first use the dust filter fell off. Nice work Bosch, you have really outdone yourself with the craftman ship on this one. Don't buy it!"

"Loads of Power" Date: 8/27/2007
"After a few weeks of work from this addition to the shop I like it a lot. I have worn out two Porter Cable sanders, one Dewalt. I also have Makita unit that is still going strong, and hope the best for this new addition. It seems to have more power that the others, and that's not a huge deal maybe for finish sanding, but it "feel" better. The dust collection end is acceptable, and I expect it to be more rugged that the Dewalt, but it still has some dust leaks. The dust collector is very easy to clean. The component that will wear out that controls start up sanding speed is some of a concern, and the documentation didn't clearly tell me where I can get some back up supply (and I know I'll need them)"

"Shred or polish, it does it all." Date: 8/23/2007
"I've used a few RO's in my time from electric to pneumatic and this one is a beaut. The speed control is perfect, the dust collector is awesome and it's got a good ergonomic grip. The only slight downside is that the dust bag (or should I say box) takes a little getting used to. It kind of sticks out and you need to adjust your grip accordingly. But I wouldn't leave it off for anything. I used 60 grit on some cedar and put my nose right by the collector. I couldn't smell the dust one bit. A quality tool for some serious sanding."
