"Soap reside will otherwise coat the inside of the glass (I don't care how good a dishwasher or soap you have, or how well you rinse them) and tarnish the taste of the wine, ever more so over time. Hand-wash glasses with just warm water and a towel promptly after each use instead."

"Unless you have a dishwasher with a tray designed expressly for tumblers and wine stems, you need the Crystal Safe Wine Glass Rack (or perhaps a few of them!) My wife and I have wine at least three or four nights a week with dinner, and after moving we found our new dishwasher didn't have room for our wine stems in the top rack--and the bottom rack is a place built pretty much to break fine glassware. Rather than wash every glass by hand, I bought one of these racks to try out--and it really does seem to work well. I've used the rack with champagne flutes, port glasses, and all manner of red and white wine stems without a problem yet. It holds them securely in place on the dishwasher's bottom rack, and the outer frame helps keep other items in the dishwasher from banging into the glasses. One caveat: I haven't yet had the guts to try any of my really pricey crystal wine glasses in it (those still receive hand washings), but presumably, they will work just as well."
