| "Cuisinart Chef's Classic Adonized 12-qt. pot with lid" |
Date: 9/14/2007 |
"I purchased this item about 7 months ago, but just had the opportunity to use it. It is a nice size, looks good and is quite heavy. I made a large pot of gravy (spaghetti sauce) and it cooked quite well. While it was cooking, I noticed that oil was seeping out of one of the areas where the handle was bolted to the pot. It wasn't much, but it seemed to spread in a circle around the bolt. I wasn't too concerned with this because it didn't spread to the bottom of the pot. I did not notice that there was really a problem with this pot until I washed it. It cleaned easily, and nothing was stuck to the bottom, but I was very disappointed when I was through washing it. The inside of the pot looked like it was very old. The bottom of the pot had many scratches, and quite a few areas where specks of the hard adonized material had come off. I could see the silver material underneath. (I guess my family and I ate these specks of material.) The hard adonized coating is very, very thin. I used a nylon spoon for stirring the entire time, and only used a metal spoon to scoop a small amount of gravy from the bottom of the pot. I can't imagine how metal utensils could be used on this pot. I wonder what would have happened if I had actually stirred this pot with a metal spoon. Also, after the pot was washed and had dried, I noticed that the inside of the pot, where the handles were bolted, had rusted. At first, I thought I had not cleaned the pot well, and it was gravy around the bolts, but I was wrong. It was definately rust. I cook alot, and have many pots, quite a few which are very old. I have never had a pot that looked like this after 100 uses, let alone one use. Well, I guess I can't complain too much, (although I already did), because this pot only cost me $29.99. I bought it on a special Amazon sale. I would be very unhappy if I bought it at the price it is currently advertised. Although I do not own any other Cuisinart cookware, after this experience, I would never purchase this type of cookware made by Cuisinart. In fact, now I don't think I would purchase any hard adonized cookware by any company. Just beware of this product!!!"
