"Drips water!!??!!" Date: 12/27/2006
"I bought this ice cream scoop at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It seems very sturdy. Works fine, as long as you wash it by hand. But, the strangest thing happens if you wash it in the dishwasher. It seems dry, but if you squeeze and twist the rubber handle (like when you're scooping ice cream) water starts to dribble out of the handle. I can't see how the water gets in the handle, but it's there. You have to forcefully squeeze and twist the handle over the sink until all the water dribbles out. Then, you can safely scoop your ice cream without getting dishwater in it. I'm thinking that the hot dishwasher water must cause the rubber to expand just enough to let in water, then it shrinks back to normal size as it cools down, trapping the water inside. Anyway, that's why I would recommend that you steer clear of this scoop."
