| "Worst table saw ever!" |
Date: 7/13/2007 |
"The first one I got vibrated so bad it left a kerf of more than 3/16". It was very scary to use. Jet had me bring it to local repair shop who said it was junk. Then Jet set me the stand up version. Still vibrated, not quite as bad, but still unnacceptable.
I've probably used over 20 table saws, little portables, semi portables, contractor saws, shop saws, and even a $15k 14" Eric brand. I know my saws, and this is absolutely positively the worst table saw I have ever used.
Other problems include: blade wasn't parallel with table and was incredibly hard to adjust. 45 degree blade tilt stop wasn't even close. Rip fence doesn't accurately clamp to table, making accuracy a guessing game. Blade guard, which no one uses, has a stud at the back of the table which gets in the way of the rip fence. Slot in table for blade is huge, so if you want a thin rip your material has little support. Blade height crank hits fence handle if fence is fastened above it; so you have to release the fence, crank the height, then re-fasten the fence. And; there are probably more problems with this saw that I didn't find in the 4 hours I struggled with it.
