| "Got a bad one brand new" |
Date: 9/3/2007 |
"Note: Suspect I just got unlucky, but the design of the trigger lock is less than robust.
I bought one of these in a local hardware store.
Nice small unit, nothing fancy, but the demo unit had way more torque than a typical ni-cad cordless.
Got it home, charged it up.
Would only run in reverse.
Moved the direction switch trigger lock to the forward direction once, and the unit let out a small amount of magic smoke and died.
Store took it back nicely, traded up for a lithium Makita.
Suspect I just got a bad one, other than that direction switch, the unit appears rather solidly made... and definitely has plenty of torque.
And it charges way quicker than I am used to on older Ni-Cads."
