"Died just after a year"
Date:
7/2/2007
"Once the warranty ran out, the heating mechanism died (ERR2). I enjoyed it while I had it, but I've now had to buy a third coffeemaker in as many years, much to my husband's chagrin! (Prior to this one I had the Cuisinart DTC-975BKN Programable Auto Brew 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black but it kept clogging up and flooding my countertop.) I like the wide-basket design and wide-open carafe (easy to clean!), and I *love* KitchenAid. I never had trouble with the programming feature or how hot my coffee was - in fact, I've retained the carafe as a back-up. Not sure why they have an automatic shut-off on this model since the coffee goes directly into a thermal carafe and therefore there is no nasty coffee-burning hot plate on the bottom, but I guess it was easier to engineer that way for the full line. Wish me luck for better coffee karma this time! I'm going with Capresso now. Good luck to you, and happy java!"

"Three broken coffee makers"
Date:
7/1/2007
"I purchased this coffee maker last weekend. When I got it home it failed to work at all. I took it back to the store and replaced it with a new one. Brought it home and it failed to complete a brewing cycle. Called KitchenAid to complain and they convinced me to allow them to send a replacement. Got it yesterday. Not even the model I had bought. You guessed it, it didn't work correctly either. I'm returning both coffee makers for a refund."

"If you like coffee grinds in your coffee this is the coffee maker for you!"
Date:
6/22/2007
"We purchased this coffee maker because we thought "hey this is a kitchen aid it will work great". We were WRONG. We have already had the coffee maker replaced by the company (they were very happy to make the exchange) however, the new coffee maker has the same problems as the old one. It constantly overflows or clogs. No matter what coffee we use, the courseness of the grinds, the filter, none of it matters, it still clogs or overflows. This is by far the WORST coffee maker we have EVER had."

"Why didn't I listen?"
Date:
6/10/2007
"I read the reviews of this product before I purchased it and saw the complaints about the low brew temperature. They are correct! The coffee is luke warm. (and so you can guage, I consider Starbucks to be scalding hot.) KitchenAid recommends that you pre-heat the carafe with hot water, but then what is the use of the timer? Anyway I tried and saw little difference. I had KitchenAid send me another unit. It was no better, so both are going back."
