"Awful" Date: 8/11/2007
"LOVE the design. Doesn't spill a drop. But I ended up with a foam insulated mug, and my coffee doesn't stay hot for more than half an hour. What a waste of money."

"Works great if you have the vacuum sealed version" Date: 3/19/2007
"There are 2 versions of this mug. The vacuum insulated version WILL keep your coffee hot for hours. However, for those who have purchased one of these mugs and have found that they don't, then it is likely, you have the other foam insulated version. I have heard that (...) the vacuum insulated version in a 2 mug set, but I have not actually seen them there."

"Best insulated mug I've found" Date: 2/1/2007
"I have 2 of these mugs. They were ones available through Starbucks. I boast about them so often that I should be getting kick backs. My second one I use for non coffee drinks & usually iced. If I put about 5 to 6 ice cubes in my drink about 2 or 3 pm, there's still ice left the next morning. It's great to keep a drink cold and not have it so diluted in a couple of hours that you'd rather pour it out. On my newer one my carabiner broke too but that hasn't "thawed" my enthusiasm one bit."

"Does NOT keep liquids hot for "hours"" Date: 1/30/2007
"Based upon the previous reviews I bought a Contigo Extreme. I had high hopes for it as I've gotten accustomed to sticking my coffee in the microwave fairly frequently to warm it up. It seemed like a great idea to have a thermos-like cup that would keep coffee warm for an extended period. Despite the fancy looks and the fancy price, this cup does no better than a normal insulated cup. That is, after fifteen minutes it will be lukewarm and time for the microwave (although not with this metal cup). I have to rewarm the coffee in something microwave friendly and then pour it back into this Contigo. I haven't decided yet if it's worth the trouble. I'll be keeping it for other reasons however. The D-ring handle is a great idea. You can hang it on anything that you can slide the handle over and are not dependent on coffee cup holders. And it doesn't leak, despite the enclosed tag that says it is not guaranteed to not leak. So far I can turn it upside down with a full charge of coffee and not a drop comes out. So it's got some good points . . . but don't count on it to keep your beverage hot for more than about 20 minutes. Seems like it should - it's well-constructed and a nice design. But it doesn't. Where the other reviewer got "hours" I can't imagine. The company must have given out some free cups . . . or they think "hot" means anything that's not frozen. "
