| "Not a good choice for frying wings" |
Date: 4/26/2007 |
"This is an okay fryer, but it takes forever (about 45 minutes) to heat up a kettle of oil. When frying chicken wings, the oil temperature drops so low that the wings just don't crisp up, unless you're willing to leave them in the fryer for about 40 minutes. That's with fully thawed wings, too. I can't imagine what a nightmare it would be to fry them frozen. I think a turkey might fare a bit better, since you're supposed to leave it in that long.
I have since gotten rid of this fryer and purchased a 60,000 BTU gas turkey fryer, which is absolutely phenomenal. If you have an outdoor area where you can use one safely, I would recommend that over an electric any day."
