"Not worth the frustration" Date: 8/13/2007
"I'm giving this 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. I wasted half my day with this before returning it to Lowes. The inherent design of the product allows paint to enter the piston, which pumps the paint. The heat caused from friction in the piston drys and gums up the paint therefore ceasing the piston. For every 30 secconds of painting I spent 5 minutes cleaning the piston. This was after thinning the paint to 75% water even though they say thinning is not required. I bought another piston thinking that maybe something was wrong with it but it continued to do the same thing. Wagner has to know it is selling an inferior design yet they continue to do so. All the other Wagner power painters work under the same concept so I imagine they will have the same problem. There is a reason brushes and rollers are still around, THEY WORK!"

"Pleasantly surprised" Date: 7/12/2007
"I was really skeptical about buying one of these because of all the bad reviews i've read here on Amazon about the Wagner sprayers. I decided to take a chance and pick one up at my local HD recently figuring I could return it more easily than having to deal with shipping it back. Well, it took a little getting used to, but after a few test sprays, I had it laying down a perfect coat of oil-based (Zinnser) primer. Took me about 20 minutes to do both sides of 15 cabinet doors. WOW! Would have taken me all day to do by hand. Clean up is a bit of a b!@tch, but the time I saved was worth it! "

"Great for painting/staining irregular surfaces, does require some practice...." Date: 6/9/2007
"This type of sprayer is very noisy, make sure you have hearing protection. I've had mine for three years, painted basement walls (Latex on Cinderblock) garage (Latex on wood siding) and deck (Oil based stain on Wood) and even ceiling joists in the basement. I haven't tried it for things like interior walls but I don't think that it's strength (Rollers always work better for interior walls anyways) The sprayer has an adjusting dial - you have to play with this for a little bit before you get a "Feel" for how it sprays. Too little and it spits, too much and it's a dripping mess. I found it to be quite forgiving of viscosity contrary to the other reviewer's experience. Perhaps he got a lemon. I spray onto the surface and use a wide(4 inch+) brush to even out the application. This is particularly useful for the vertical surfaces - there's no way to get paint on vertical siding (or up into the cracks) without a sprayer. One key thing - you MUST oil it before storing it. Let's just say that this is the second sprayer of this type I have purchased from Wagner. No regrets though since this one is a nice upgrade from my first which I also got a lot of use from."

"My Wagner Wide-Shot Paint Sprayer Didn't Work At All!" Date: 4/24/2007
"Rec'd the Wagner Wide-Shot power sprayer as a gift and tried using it to spray some wicker patio furniture. I put in the paint & nothing. I thinned and thinned and all it did was shoot blobs & gobs (or nothing at all). The only thing this unit can spray is water. I have professional experience with auto painting which made my Wagner experience all the more frustrating. Since I have no receipt, the $100+ Wagner unit is out in today's trash. Don't waste your money or time with any Wagner products. Amazon, so where's the 0 star rating?"
