"Best ice cream 'scoop' ever"
Date:
9/9/2005
"This is the best ice cream scoop ever (well, "spade"). I've had mine for 2 years now (black version). No matter how cold or hard the icecream/yogurt is, the spade cuts right through. I considered getting the type that has anti-freeze type liquid which supposedly helps. I'm so glad that I got this Kitchen Aid spade - it works far better than any other scoop that I've tried. The handle is perfect as well, and the whole thing is well-balanced. My mother-in-law has the Kitchen Aid "scoop" version. It's good, but I'd give it 4 stars. If you must have round ice cream balls for an ice cream cone, then you could get that, however the spade works much better for scooping ice cream, cutting through easily and scooping plenty. You could still make a "ball" if you really wanted to with the spade. Definitely 5+ stars. I'd pay twice as much for it if required."

"Large & Heavy Duty"
Date:
2/22/2005
"The materials and workmanship on this item are heirloom quality. The metal is polished to a mirror finish. This Kitchenaid ice cream spade requires less effort and works better than the Kitchenaid ice cream scoop. I wish the spade had been in the 6-piece gadget set instead of the scoop. Even the ice cream spade requires a fair amount of force to extract hard frozen ice cream. This ice cream spade works well, but a circa 1970 Hamilton Beach commercial ice cream scoop requires less effort, extracts more ice cream faster, and produces real scoops instead of shallow slabs. But the Kitchenaid ice cream spade looks very nice. As an added bonus, it could drop a cape buffalo with a single blow."

"A SUPER ICE CREAM SPADE!"
Date:
11/29/2002
"No one will ever know how many years I've spent trying to dig rock hard ice cream out of its container. Our size of choice is a 1/2 gal. container (Rocky Road, preferably, and the traditional scoop is almost useless - it just makes little nicks. For a while, in desperation, I popped the container into the mircrowave for about 45 seconds to "loosen" the edges - it was still a chore. I found that a soup spoon worked better than the scoop. Then, a friend who knows our penchant for a bowl of the creamy treat before bedtime gifted us with this ice cream spade. It's a perfect tool for serving ice cream. I'm able to dig it into the straight-from-the-freezer container and fill our bowls. Sometimes, it's the little things that make life a joy!"
