"Response to negative Reviews" Date: 9/6/2007
"I, too, purchased this blender and noticed the burning smell and noises that made me think it was falling apart or going to catch on fire! My handy spouse took the bottom off and oiled the parts as he thought it sounded like it needed a lube job. Since doing so, the blender works much better, the smell is gone and the motor is quieter. Take a minute to hit it with WD-40 on the inside and see if it helps. No complaints on blending ability..."

"Don't bother." Date: 8/23/2007
"This blender is a piece of CRAP. It started making a terrible grinding noise and smelled like it was burning every time I would blend something, after I had only used it once or twice. It was too late to return and now I'm stuck with it."

"Use for Smoothies" Date: 8/3/2007
"I bought this item primarily for use of making smoothies. I make them daily for my husband & I b/c he works out in the heat & b/c of nutritional value. I'd had a cheaper blender before & it had worn out. After much research, I bought this blender b/c of ratings & price which was reduced due to the color being white. I have to say it works great on frozen fruits except for mangoes which I find are slippery. I have to rearrange thm in the blender a few times with a spoon to finally get them smooth. It takes apart & cleans easily. This my first Kitchen Aid product. So far I'm satisfied overall."

"Won't even puree a really ripe banana cut into small pieces" Date: 5/28/2007
"I don't write many reviews, but I am compelled to tell you how disappointed I am in this appliance. While I have a KitchenAid mixer I love, and other KitchenAid items, I totally feel like I've wasted our money getting this blender. I thought the brand name and "professional" quality with stainless steal container, and pricey price would mean something.. Our blender is not even a year old, it makes really weird noises (like the gears are slipping), gets an electrical smell if you run it more than a minute, and worst of all... it won't even puree the banana chunks in a fruit smoothie. I have even chopped the bananas (really ripe ones) into small 1/4 inch pieces and STILL end up with chunks in the bottom of the container--no matter how many times we pulse it or how long we run it. We NEVER had such difficulty with our Oster--it was just old and the glass jar got broken. I have just ordered a new Oster and am very disappointed that I couldn't count on KitchenAid to make a quality blender. :-("
