"This stylish-looking coffee maker makes wonderful tasting coffee, as advertised. I use it at work, and even decaf beans taste good with this machine. However, that 'convenient' swing-out basket would make the Marquis de Sade cackle with glee. The device that holds the pot in place underneath it falls out constantly, and if that weren't bad enough, you have to have both ends of the basket aligned just right, or you're risking a countertop overflowing with coffee and grounds. So buyer decide: is the good coffee worth the hassle of that dadgummed basket? If it is, this machine is not a bad buy."

"I've had this pot about a year. When it works, the coffee is good. HOWEVER the plastic notch which holds the coffee well broke immediately, so I have to fanagle it to make sure it is in a working position. The pot does not seat well, so occasionally, coffee drips all over! The timer feature is nice, however, you can't be sure you won't find coffee all over your counter top...."

"The flavor plus system works. I am switching from soda to coffee to get my caffeen in order to reduce the sugar I use. Unfortunately I need to add a sweetner because I don't like the bitterness. The Flavor Plus system produces a less bitter coffee allowing me to reduce the sweetner I use. For that reason I would judge this coffee maker the best I have owned. That more than ballances the following: The caraffe is the worst pouring caraffe ever made. The solution is to use your thumb to raise the lid of the caraffe while you pour. If you don't you get coffee all over the place. There is no excuse for engineering this poor; the caraffe was obviously not tested. Aparently cups is not a standard measure when it comes to coffee. The full 10 cups on this coffee maker measured 8 1/2 cups on my last coffee maker. I don't like the cone coffee filters quite as well, and they seem to be more prone to folding over and getting grounds in the brew. In the stores I normally frequent the cone filters come in small packages and are more expensive. The better tasting coffee for me outweighs the problems listed. I would suggest that Hamilton Beach redesign the caraffe so that it pours correctly without lifting the lid, and make that improvement available to all of the current owners."

"While I would never complain about the taste of the coffee (one way or the other it is delicious), the set up stinks. The carafe drips every time I pour it, even when I pour it slowly and it makes a huge mess when I pour the water in to make coffee. and if I want slightly bolder coffee and use a 1/2 teaspoon more coffee grounds, it makes a huge mess! The place where you put the grounds is too small. And lately, just to make this coffee pot a bigger pain, I have been finding huge coffee drips, not water, but coffee, under, around, behind, etc. the coffee pot almost every day! I have only had this pot for 2 months and I am ready for new one!"
